INTRODUCING THE VERY YOUNG

Mr. Novi would like to caution parents not to introduce the very young to private lessons, except in the case of strings or the very gifted. The disadvantage of starting too young is that the student learns to learn slowly, as opposed to the eleven-year-old who learns to learn rapidly.

They would better be served being exposed to live performances and recordings of a wide variety of music: opera, Chinese, Cuban, country, classical, jazz, solo.

This is the way I learned before I was fourteen.
